Iffy is sitting in a living room chair, talking to Mimi on his phone.
Mimi says: Hey, Honey, the gals and I are finishing up here at the quilt show, and we’d like to stop somewhere for dinner. Do you mind?
Iffy says: Nope. I’ve got leftover pizza in the fridge.
Iffy is still sitting in his chair, talking to Mimi on his phone.
He smiles and says: I’ve got a surprise for you, Mimi. I knew you were gonna be gone all day, so I went to the store and bought the supplies, and painted your sewing room.
Mimi says: You’re kidding.
Iffy says: It’s beautiful!
Iffy is still talking to Mimi on his phone, but only his hand, holding the phone, is visible.
Mimi says: Wow! I didn’t think you were even listening when I told you what I wanted to do. I can’t wait to see it! The pinks, the blues, the delicate brush strokes, making all the walls look like impressionistic paintings.
It was complicated, but I told you you’d get it, once you had read the article.
Iffy is now off the phone. He is standing in Mimi’s sewing room. There is a fresh coat of bright red paint on the door, the walls, and woodwork. He slaps himself on the back of his bald head as he looks at the article, which has a picture of the beautiful multi-colored, pastel walls that Mimi wanted for her sewing room.
Iffy thinks: Oh! Once I had read the article!
