Iffy is reading a book. Mimi walks up behind him.
Mimi says: You said you were gonna water the lawn.
Iffy, with his eyes glued to the book, says: This is depressing, Mimi. Reading this book, I now understand how insignificant we are.
Mimi says: But, do you understand how brown the grass is?
Closeup on Iffy.
Iffy, looking up from the book, says: In terms of the universe, it’s like I don’t even exist.
Iffy reads from the book: Yet, I take comfort in the words of the French philosopher, Rene Descartes: “Je pense, donc je suis.”
Mimi rolls her eyes and says: You’re speaking French?
Iffy points to the side of his head and says: It means, “I think, therefore I am.”
Mimi is standing at Iffy’s side, smiling. Iffy is frowning and looking away.
She says: Well, now that you’ve established that you do, in fact, exist, you should be able to go out and water the lawn.
